SUMMARY:GSGI Virtual Film Lab
DESCRIPTION:Girl Scouts can build their filmmaking skills through the GSGI Virtual Film Lab\, a series of free\, self-paced programs designed to guide girls step-by-step through the creative process. Participants can choose from three fun options—or complete them all: Filmmaking Basics\, Claymation\, and Stop Motion. \nEach program is completely online and includes instructional videos that girls can complete on their own or with their troop. After signing up\, participants receive an email with the program link and instructions. Every Girl Scout who completes a program earns a Virtual Film Lab patch* and can submit their film creations to the GSGI Film Festival! \n*Patches will be mailed to participants at the end of May 2026.  \nProgram Options: \n\nFilmmaking Basics: Perfect for beginners\, this program covers the fundamentals of filmmaking. Girl Scouts will learn about basic video production\, camera angles\, lighting\, and sound. This program is ideal for girls who want a strong foundation before creating and submitting their own film. \n\n\nClaymation: Discover the art of Claymation through this digital program! Girl Scouts will create a clay character\, build a story\, and learn simple animation techniques to produce their own Claymation video. \n\n\nStop Motion: Discover how everyday objects can become movie stars! This program introduces Girl Scouts to stop motion animation using toys\, drawings\, or household items. Girls will learn how to plan scenes\, capture frames\, and edit them together to create smooth motion and engaging stories. \n\nThese virtual programs make it easy for Girl Scouts anywhere in Greater Iowa to explore creativity\, learn new skills\, and tell their stories—at their own pace and with the chance to share them at the Film Festival. 🎬✨ \n  \n \n\nSign up here!\n\n \n \n \n\nSupport is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Iowa Arts Council\, which exists within the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

This special ceremony is dedicated to honoring the Girl Scouts who have earned their Gold Award this year.  \nDuring the ceremony\, each Gold Award Girl Scout will be formally recognized and presented with her official Gold Award pin and certificate in front of family\, friends\, troop members\, and volunteers. It’s a moment to celebrate years of dedication\, service\, and leadership.  \n Tickets & Admission  \n\nGold Award Girl Scouts receive free admission for themselves and two guests. \nAdditional guests may attend for $10 per person. \nAll tickets include admission to the zoo\, so guests are welcome to explore and enjoy Blank Park Zoo as part of the celebration. \n\nRegistration Information  \nThe registration link will be sent directly to each Gold Award Girl Scout and their parent/guardian. They may then share the link with family and friends to invite them to be part of this special celebration.  \nDue to space and capacity limits\, we are prioritizing tickets for Gold Award Girl Scouts and their invited guests. If space allows\, tickets will be opened to additional Girl Scouts at a later date.  \nCommunication to Gold Award Girl Scouts will be sent the week of March 22.  \n\nContinue the Celebration! \nThose who would like to celebrate our Gold Award Girl Scouts are also invited to attend the Sisterhood Social\, a celebration of Girl Scout achievements. This is an open-house style reception following the ceremony. \nThe Sisterhood Social will honor our Gold Award Girl Scouts while also recognizing our Bronze and Silver Award Girl Scouts and celebrating our graduating seniors. Together\, we will highlight and celebrate the many accomplishments and achievements of Girl Scouts throughout the year.  \nPlease see the event listing for more details about the social and how to register.  \nAttendees do not need to register separately for the Sisterhood Social if they are already registered for the Gold Award Celebration.  \nWe look forward to celebrating this remarkable milestone with you!
