DESCRIPTION:Leadership starts with you—and at Camp Tanglefoot’s Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program\, you’ll gain the tools\, confidence\, and experience to make a difference in the world. This dynamic program\, over the course of two summers\, is designed to prepare you for future roles in camp counseling and beyond\, equipping you with valuable skills\, confidence\, and lifelong tools for leadership. This program’s design is grounded in the expertise of child development professionals and resources from Girl Scouts of the USA and the American Camp Association. This leadership experience is more than just a training—it’s a journey of growth and discovery. \nCIT I is all about building your foundation as a leader. You’ll explore your personal leadership style\, learn how to be a responsible and inspiring role model\, and dive into learning about topics like youth development\, outdoor living skills through a primitive camping experience\, teamwork\, conflict resolution\, and creating positive camp experiences for younger campers. \nCIT II takes your skills to the next level as you continue building on the learning and skills from CIT I. You’ll become a leader among your peers as you plan for and go on the primitive camping experience. You’ll spend a week assisting counselors in units as you work with and support younger campers. This week of practical experience helps you develop confidence\, adaptability\, and a deeper understanding of group dynamics and program planning. After completing the CIT program\, you’ll be eligible to apply for a position as an apprentice counselor on the Camp Tanglefoot staff the following year! \nCITs will have a break from Friday\, July 31\, 2026\, at 1:15 p.m. to Monday\, August 3\, 2026\, at 1:00 p.m. During this break\, CITs must leave camp. DESCRIPTION:Dive into an unforgettable night at the zoo!   \nJoin us for a one-of-a-kind overnight adventure at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. Spend the night sleeping beside the incredible exhibits in the aquarium. As the crowds go home and the lights dim\, the zoo comes alive in a whole new way!  \nDuring this special overnight experience\, Girl Scouts will explore wildlife and conservation through hands-on educational activities led by zoo experts. Discover what the animals are up to after dark during exclusive guided evening tours\, play interactive games all about animals and conservation\, and relax with a themed movie before bedtime. Enjoy a light evening snack\, then drift off to sleep surrounded by the wonders of the aquarium.  \nIn the morning\, wake up bright and early for a guided tour before the zoo opens to the public—and then enjoy admission to the zoo for the rest of the day!  \nParticipation Options \nFamilies:\nFamilies are welcome to attend together! A parent or guardian must attend with their child if registering as a family. Siblings are welcome to attend. All participants must be registered—no walk-ins are allowed.  \nTroops:\nTroops are welcome to attend together with registered adult chaperones. All adult chaperones must be registered Girl Scout volunteers with current background checks and must follow the Girl Scout Safety Activity Checkpoints for adult-to-youth ratios. Each troop must have at least two unrelated adult chaperones\, including one woman.  \nAdditional Information  \n\nCots\, air mattresses\, and/or sleeping bags are recommended. \nChaperones are required per Girl Scout safety ratios and must register for the event. \nParticipants must be ages 4 and up. \nNo outside food or beverages are allowed\, except water. \nAll tours and activities will be led by zoo staff. \nIf you need a wheelchair or electric scooter\, please reserve one through the Zoo Gift Shop at least 2 days in advance by calling (402) 738-5140. \n\n Registration opens on May 15. Deadline to register is June 27.   \n\n2026 Girl Scout Cookie Program Reward Information  \nThis event is included as a reward experience for the 2026 Girl Scout Cookie Program.  \nRegistration will open first for Girl Scouts who choose this overnight adventure using their cookie program reward points. Midweek\, you and your friends will embark on a canoe adventure across the lake for an overnight at a local state park—pitching tents\, sharing stories\, and sleeping under the stars. Back at camp\, challenge yourself at the archery range\, work together to complete low ropes course challenges\, and enjoy making a sailing-inspired craft. Swim and jump off the Lily Pad and take a scenic ride on the pontoon boat. Throughout the day\, you’ll also sing camp songs\, play silly games\, and make new friends! \nHighlights of this session:\n– Tie-dye a t-shirt.\n– Swim and jump off the Lily Pad.\n– Make a painting project. \nRegistration deadline is 7/23/2026 \n(Grade level for registration is the grade your Girl Scout will be entering in Fall 2026)

DESCRIPTION:It’s a barn day! Your favorite fuzzy friends are waiting for you. Riding and grooming aren’t all it takes to love a horse\, we’ll also learn about being safe around horses\, too. Learn about the basics of horse care\, make a horse-themed craft\, and roast a s’more at the barn with your new friends. Lunch is also included in this fun day at the barn.
