DESCRIPTION:Water Station F on the course of the Des Moines Marathon is reserved for Girl Scouts to volunteer. There is a sign up on the website for the IMT Des Moines marathon. Please sign up directly on the website. Click the link and scroll down to Water Station F – Girl Scouts. \nSign up here! \nVolunteer duties include setting up a hydration station\, tables\, cups\, and trash area. Cups should be filled with water for runners as they pass by the aid station. Additional cups of water must be filled\, while used cups from runners must be swept away and placed in trash receptacles. Communication with race officials to request other aid station supplies before they are needed is crucial. A teardown of the hydration station is necessary following the last runner. You’ll exchange letters and get to know each other over the summer\, then have a chance to meet in-person at summer’s end! You will even receive a pen pal kit\, with stationery\, stamps\, a special pen pal patch\, and letter ideas to get started! \nYou’ll find out who your pen pal is the week of June 3\, and the pen pal kits will be mailed to you that week too! Here’s to a summer of making new Juliette pals! \nRegister by May 27\, 2024.

SUMMARY:First Aid/CPR Training- Des Moines
DESCRIPTION:GSGI recommends each troop secure a Troop First Aider\, a registered adult volunteer trained in First Aid and CPR. In partnership with the American Red Cross\, we offer a blended learning training option for volunteers. Once you register for a session\, you’ll receive an email receipt with a link to complete your at-home portion (on a PC or tablet)\, which must be completed prior to attending the in-person skills test. Allow approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to complete the online portion. \nFor the in-person session\, please wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to spend some time sitting or lying on the floor. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. \nRegistration Close Date: 5/6/2024
