DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the American Red Cross\, we offer a Wilderness First Aid Training Weekend for volunteers as an add on to our First Aid/CPR program. To complete this course you must first have the CPR Certification completed. \nFor this in-person session\, please wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to spend some time sitting or lying on the floor/ground. We will make the best efforts to complete most of this training outdoors so please be sure plan accordingly based on the weather forecasted. Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Wilderness First Aid valid for two years. \nRegistration closes 2/21/2025 \n

Then\, you’ll take a behind-the-scenes tour of the amazing Iowa Capitol building\, where you’ll get to climb up to the balcony of the dome for a view like no other. You’ll meet real-life leaders of the judicial process and discover what makes our government tick. \nBy the end of the day\, you’ll have completed all the steps for the Cadette\, Senior\, and Ambassador Democracy badges. Plus\, we’ll make sure your school knows this is an experience you can’t miss. Need a letter for an excused absence? Just email us at info@gsiowa.org\, and we’ve got you covered. \nLunch is included for youth and adult chaperones. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions during registration. \nChaperones are welcome but not required\, and must register. \nRegister by March 7.
