Lights, camera, action! The GSGI Girl Scout Film Festival invites Girl Scouts across Greater Iowa to explore the power of storytelling through film. Open to all levels, this exciting creative arts program empowers Girl Scouts to write, produce, and film their own short videos while building confidence, leadership, and technical skills.
Girl Scouts can participate by submitting an original short film, completing one of our virtual filmmaking programs to learn the basics of storytelling and production, or celebrating creative work at the Film Festival Showcase in June.
The festival features four categories:
- Comedy/Musical
- Drama
- Documentary
- PSA/Commercial.
Each divided by age level: Daisy – Juniors (K – 5 grades) and Cadette – Ambassador (6 – 12 grades). Two outstanding films from each category and age level will be selected to be shown at the Film Festival Showcase on June 13, 2026, in Des Moines.
More information about the showcase event and tickets will be available soon.
Submission Deadline
All films must be submitted by May 31, 2026.
